How to Become a Blogger? | In early 2013, I decided to become a blogger because I was very inspired by WPBeginner and how they present their content in their blog and give infinite value to those who visit their website. They help millions of people with WordPress problems, and I can feel how satisfying it is to help people. Besides that, they can generate millions of dollars per year because of blogs. That is the main point when we have a blog. Interesting right?

Starting from there, I tried to create one of my first blogs, but my visitors only came from Malaysia. So, I have limited visitors and limited income from my blog. I can generate income not too much when I target my country only. So, I try to change the game.

With blogging, I can earn about four monthly figures in MYR currency. For me, this is not enough income as a full-time blogger. I need a lot of time to learn how to generate more revenue from blogging.

I never give up on generating more income from blogging. So, I decide to be an international blogger. I want to make a blog as a career. For me, blogging is not just about money. The money will be generated automatically when you have a passion for blogging.

Because of that, in 2018, I decided to create my international blog, minutesguide.com. Earlier, cause WPBeginner inspired me, I wanted to write about WordPress only on my blog, but I decided to spread my topic content wider, not for just WordPress only. The main point is how much value my visitors get from my content.

My Story To Become A Blogger

When I created my first blog, I did not know about WordPress, Hosting, Domain, cPanel, or all related websites. I started from zero knowledge. So, I first buy an ebook guide on properly installing WordPress on the server. I know there are many free guides or just Google for it, but for beginners like me at that time, I need a step-by-step guide to sequence what I must do properly.

So, after one week, I learned about WordPress, domain, and hosting, and now I am trying to install WordPress on the server. It’s quite a bit difficult because there are a lot of technical things you have to do. But, believe me, it isn’t easy because you are unfamiliar with that. Gotcha! I did it!

I was pleased when I succeeded in installing my WordPress into the server with guidance. Starting on that day, I begin to write my first post!

Do you know what happens? After two months, I feel no longer eager to update the content in the blog because I have no money, no income, and no visitors to my blog very little. But I still stay positive and continue to update my content.

After six months, my blog started to generate income from affiliate programs. I feel very grateful.

Passion.

To become a blogger, you need a passion. Passion comes first, and income will follow after that. How long? It depends on your effort and your target visitors.

I do not know whatwill happen if I stop blogging after two months when I never generate income from my blog. Maybe I was unable to create income from the blog until now.

Five Characteristics You Must Have To Become A Blogger

Becoming a full-time blogger and making it a profession is not as easy as you think. You must have this rule if you want to be a successful blogger.

Rule #1: Passion

If you want to become a blogger, the first thing you must do is have a passion for it. Please do not write a blog because you have many people who can generate income from it. If you think so, your blog will not have any new posts after one or two months. This is because you do not have a passion for it. You chase the money.

Passion is number one, and income will follow you after that. How much depends on your effort, strategy, and target visitors.

As I told you above in my story, my blog started generating income almost six months after creating a blog. See. If I make a blog because of money, I will stop writing on the blog.

Rule #2: Never Give Up

When you have a passion for blogging, the next critical thing is that you must never give up. That is why I tell you. Blogging is not just about money. The money will be generated automatically when you are passionate about it. If you look at the successful bloggers today, they start from scratch with zero traffic and zero income.

But day by day, month by month, year by year, they are slowly making money from the blog until 5-6 figures every month.

Rule #3: Consistent

Consistent is about discipline. Without consistency, you will have trouble becoming a blogger.

Second, please focus and be consistent on one blog until you succeed. Consistency is essential to make you last in the blogging industry. Please do not jump to another blog if you do not achieve success.

That is why, before making a blog, please consider your audience and topic. These factors will decide whether your blog is successful or not.

Rule #4: Patient

Ask yourself.

Can you be patient and wait about 3-6 months to write consistently on your blog without generating income? If yes, you have the characteristics to be a successful blogger. But please monitor your traffic during this period and plan how to make more traffic to your blog. In a blog journey, two or three months after blogging, money is not essential, but traffic is significant.

This is a benchmark and sign if your blog can go further or stop halfway.

Rule #5: Creative Writing

Last but not least, you must have the skill to write content creatively. If you are writing about promoting an affiliate product, please use a sharing tone. Please do not write using a sales tone. Do you understand what I mean?

For example, if you want to promote an ebook. Please do not push someone to buy it, but you can share the benefits or value if they get the ebook. Before this, I have shared my story about how I started blogging and the character you must have to become a blogger.

Becoming a blogger is not as easy as you think. Basically, to become a blogger and generate income from it, firstly, you create a blog, secondly, write something on the blog, and thirdly, revenue will be generated for you.

But it is not easy like that.

Do not worry, in this post, I will try my best to guide you on how to become a blogger from zero to hero where I target you will learn all about blogging in less than 24 hours.

#1. Get Hosting And Domain Name

What is hosting and domain name?

In simple words, hosting stores the website’s contents like code, images, files, folders, etc. All of these will be presented in website form.

Meanwhile, a domain name is your website’s URL (www.yourdomain.com).

I hope it is straightforward.

First, you must think about and decide the best name for your URL or blog name.

Please follow this simple step to choose the best domain name.

1. Keep two phrases. Ex: MyToys.com, TikTok.com, FaceBook.com
2. Characters do not exceed over 15 characters. Keep it short and memorable.
3. If you can, the domain name is related to your business.

Now, what you need to do is install WordPress on your server

What is WordPress?

WordPress has two types: WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Both of them are under the same company and have the same function but have different structures.

WordPress, which I have mentioned here, is WordPress.org only. Please focus on it.

WordPress software allows you to create your blog or website for free on your server. In fact, almost half of websites on the internet are powered by WordPress. Based on my observation and experience, WordPress is easier to manage content than other CMSs. That is why WordPress has millions of users around the world.

Then, how to install it on your server?

1. Login to cPanel.
2. Go to the section Softaculous Apps Installer. If you choose web hosting, I have recommended that all of them have softaculous features that allow you to install WordPress easily.
